The Double Pane Glass Replacement Process
Double-pane glass replacement starts by confirming the condition of the existing IGU, surrounding frame, sash, and glazing system.
1. Send Photos for Initial Review
Send photos of the fogging, cracked or broken glass, complete window, frame, and visible spacer edge when accessible.
2. On-Site Measurement & Glass Verification
When required, we confirm the opening dimensions, overall IGU thickness, glass type, Low-E characteristics, safety-glazing requirements, and other available specifications.
3. Prepare or Order the Replacement IGU
Double-pane units are generally fabricated to the dimensions and specifications required for the existing window or door.
4. Remove the Failed or Damaged IGU
The old sealed glass unit is carefully removed while the surrounding frame and sash are retained when they remain serviceable.
5. Install the Replacement Glass
The new IGU is installed using glazing materials appropriate for the existing window assembly.
6. Final Inspection & Cleanup
We check that the replacement is seated properly and clean the immediate work area before completion.
Custom insulated glass often must be prepared or ordered before installation, so scheduling depends on the required glass specification and availability.
